GridReady (adj.): describes a homeowner who understands their real electric rate, panel capacity, critical loads, and what a solar system can and can't offset — before any installer, salesperson, or utility rep shapes the conversation. A GridReady homeowner owns their assumptions and decides from clarity, not pressure.
Being GridReady is the opposite of being quote-ready. Quote-ready means an installer is about to walk into your living room. GridReady means that when they do, you're already the most informed person in the room.
Not the industry term
Engineers use "grid-ready" to describe a piece of equipment that can interconnect with the utility. That's important — but it's not what we mean. We're talking about people, not inverters.

Is this the same thing engineers mean by "grid-ready"?
No. Engineers use "grid-ready" for equipment that can interconnect with the utility grid. Our definition is about people, not inverters. We're borrowing the word because it captures the feeling of being prepared — ready for anything the grid, the weather, or a sales rep throws at you.
How do I become GridReady?

Why does it matter?

Do I need solar to be GridReady?

Is this just for Western New York?
The framework is universal, but our numbers are WNY-specific — the rate bands, the $/W ranges, the production per kW. If you live in Buffalo, Amherst, Williamsville, Clarence, or Orchard Park, every tool is calibrated for your climate and utility. Outside WNY, the framework still applies but treat the numeric benchmarks as directional.
